WIN-SUM LEAGUE RULES 2026.
1.         League entry fee is determined at the start of each season
2.         Optional pools will be on each match (longest round and longest flat).
3.         Supplied bait pack/pools payable for every match.
4.         Sectioned match with section payouts.
5.         Section points: 1st = 1 point.
6.         Blank = 9 points, DNF = 10 points (based on 27 League entrants).
7.         Match Draw 7pm to 7.30pm.
8.         All matches will be fished 8pm-11pm.
9.         Anglers will drop their worst two results.
10.       Anglers will notify organizers if they cannot attend a match no later than 4pm on the day (please call or text the organizers).
11.       Blow off venue will be Avon Beach.
12.       Bonus competition will be judged on your single longest fish.
13.       Prior to the commencement of the League, the League Secretary will issue all entrants with a copy of the rules and a specific guide to each year’s League, including the current year’s format* and venues etc. 
(* format can either be measure and return or by weight.)
14.       All fishing will be under the provisions of Club rules – please see Club Handbook for details. Angling Trust minimum sizes will be adhered to if not fishing to measure and return.
15.       Whoever pegs the beach MUST NOT know their peg number until they have finished pegging the venue. There should be at least 20 paces between pegs or a minimum of 15 paces if the venue justifies it. Pegging must take into account obstacles, freelancers, etc.
16.       Only the angler who has paid and drawn a peg number may fish at that peg. In the event of an angler being unable to fish their peg number for whatever reason, they must (a) wait or find a steward and (b) the steward will direct them to the nearest available peg. If there is no available peg the steward will direct them to the nearest end from their peg number.
17.       All bait is supplied for each match.
18.       All competitors must have and use a disgorger.
19.       When a fish is brought in, another trace may be cast out; however, that fish must be measured and returned to the sea before the next trace can be brought in.
20.      All fish must be retained in a bucket of water until they have been measured.
21.       Fish must be measured in front of a witness and recorded on a score card i.e. the fish is taken to the angler on the next peg number, measured by the captor and recorded on the score card by the witness. Fish must be signed in by the same witness where possible.
22.       All score cards must be signed in ink pen and must be handed in (in case of there being a tie at the end of the League).
23.       Fish which are being returned to the sea must be witnessed. Any sizeable fish being kept to be weighed must have their tails cut by the witness. Dead fish also must have their tails cut and put into a plastic bag ready for proper disposal (not thrown into the sea, only to be washed back to the shore).
24.       All eels are to be measured back at the organizer’s car after the competition finishes. Please keep eels alive so they can be returned. Eels and garfish: full length will count.
25.       All rays are to be measured from tip of nose to tip of tail. Rays are classed as round fish.
26.      After the match has finished, competitors have half an hour to return to the scales. Any member found leaving litter on the beach will automatically be disqualified.
27.       If only one angler catches a fish they will win first prize plus the best round and flat fish pool. The second and third prize will be drawn for from the rest of the peg numbers.
28.       At the weigh-in, competitors must inform the League Secretary of any fish they wish to have weighed in for the Club. The Secretary will ensure that the weights are forwarded to the Docket Steward. (Fish caught on these matches will also be eligible for club prizes).
29.       Any attempt to lengthen or increase the weight of fish or any other form of cheating will lead to disqualification from the League.
30.       If the weather is severe the League Secretary may switch venues to a pre-determined blow-over beach; if the weather is too extreme the League Secretary may cancel the match. If this is necessary, the bonus competition will then count for League points.
31.       Trophies are to be returned to the League Secretary at least 2 weeks prior to the Presentation night when they are issued the recipients are to sign the Cup Custodian’s logbook.
32.       Failure to abide by these rules may result in disqualification.
