CLUB RECORDS – SHORE

‘CATCH & RELEASE’ RECORD LISTS Introduction This scheme has been introduced to recognize the efforts of those anglers who wish to return their captures alive, but still want to compete for club trophies and prizes etc. 

Rules 1.         To beat an existing club record, a fish still has to be weighed on land by an official weigher (which includes persons in charge of organised club events). 2.         Fish weighed and returned alive can be entered for the Catch & Release Record Lists.  Even if it is recorded as breaking an existing club record, it will still only be eligible for this record list except in the circumstances where a fish caught on a boat is brought to shore alive, weighed on land and subsequently released alive or is caught from the shore (see Shore Catch & Release below). 3.         Apart from the Club Record lists, all other trophies and prizes are eligible to be won by fish caught and released, subject to Rule 4. 4.         

SUBMITTING DOCKETS             On organised club events the existing arrangements still stand regarding weighing of fish and submitting dockets. Freelance anglers must submit the following details: P18 (i)         photo of the fish indicating its relation to size or length 
(i.e. photographed on the scales to show the weight or placed alongside a rule); (ii) species; (iii)       where caught; (iv)       whether boat or shore caught; (v)        date; and (vi)       name of any witnesses (address if not a club member)             This information can then be given to an official weigher, who will record it on a docket which the angler must send to the Docket Steward together with the photo. Alternatively, the above information and photo can be emailed to the Docket Steward (stingray peter@gmail.com) by the 3rd day of the following month. The Docket Steward will then complete a docket for the angler. 5.         

QUALITY CONTROL. To introduce some degree of quality control and level playing field, scales used for fish weighed at sea should be digital and produced by companies such as Berkeley, Fox, ReubenHeaton, and Salter. These types of scales feature hold facilities and should not be in increments greater than 1oz. 

SHORE ‘CATCH & RELEASE’ The weighing of fish in these circumstances is obviously more accurate than weighing fish on a boat. Therefore, provided the criteria in 4 and 5 above are met fish caught and released will be eligible for both Club Records and Catch & Release Records and the trophies and prizes. 

On organized club events the existing arrangements still stand regarding weighing of fish and submitting dockets.

These new rules will be reviewed from time to time by the Committee and it is hoped that this new format will encourage more members to compete for the various prizes and trophies put up by the club.

The H. Monckton Perpetual Challenge Cup Open Flounder Competition presented by H. Monckton. Holder: C. Thompson. 

Lady Richmond Brown Challenge Trophy presented by Mr. Holmes for Heaviest Flounder caught in Club Competition. Holder: M. Bobbett.

The Peter Tybinkowski Memorial Shield presented by the Shingle Bank League in memory of Tiby for the heaviest fish caught on S.B.L. competitions. Holder: C. Ellis.
