6th Club Shore Competition results sent in by Roland Blomfield.
On Saturday evening 9th May the club held its 6th Club Shore competition at Solent Road, Southbourne. With a light north-easterly wind, a flat sea and warm weather conditions 13 club members signed on. 4 weighed in fish consisting of dogfish and sole for a total weight of 4 lb 14-1/8 oz. On these competitions undersize fish count for points which were bass and conger eel. All the fish are weighed on the beach, measured and returned to the sea as quickly as possible.
Best round fish of the evening was a dogfish weighing 1 lb 14 oz caught by Steve Monckton. Best flat fish was a sole weighing 0 lb 7 oz caught by Shane Samber.
Results:
1st Steve Monckton 1 lb 14 oz and 55 points, 2nd Paul Watson 1 lb 6-1/8 oz and 50 points, 3rd Pete Tomkins 1 lb 3 oz and 45 points, 4th Shane Samber 0 lb 7 oz and 40 points.
Simon Stockley, Martin Pink, Bruce Samber and Derek Slack all caught undersize fish for 15 points each. Mia Samber (Jnr), Roland Blomfield, Summer Monckton, Barry Samber and Pat Dalton had no fish and 5 points each.

On Saturday evening the club held its 5th Club Shore competition at Calshot Beach. The weather for the evening was a light easterly breeze and a slight sea. 14 anglers signed on (4 juniors and 2 guests) and 9 weighed in fish consisting of dogfish. On these competitions under size fish count for points which were bass, conger eel, plaice and smooth-hound. 17 fish were weighed in for a total weight of 14 lbs 4-1/8 oz. All fish were weighed on the beach, measured and returned back into the sea as quickly as possible. Best round fish of the evening was a dogfish of 1 lb 8-3/4 oz caught by Steve Monckton. Top junior was Mia Samber with 1 lb 0 oz.
