1. Competitions are fished on a Points System: Points are awarded for all fish: therefore, no minimum size or measuring of fish is required. Angling Trust- listed mini-species and mackerel are excluded from the points system). Points System. Each species is allocated a specific number of points. The first 5 fish of each species get full points; the next 5 receive only 1 point. No further points are awarded for that species. 5 additional points are awarded for each species caught. All fish must be brought into the boat to qualify; the exception being fish such as tope, conger etc. where it is more practical to unhook them over the side. In these circumstances the fish is deemed to have been caught providing the captor or the skipper has touched the hook trace. In the event when it is judged that any such fish equals or exceeds Angling Trust specimen size, it must be brought into the boat to be weighed (discretion can be exercised and this requirement waived in circumstances where the fish is obviously above specimen size). Any fish that equals or exceeds Angling Trust specimen sizes will be awarded an extra 25 points. In instances where a specimen fish is weighed on the boat in order that it can be returned alive, the weight will be agreed between the captor, the skipper, and the Large Boat Commodore (or if the captor is the Large Boat Commodore, any other competitor). 45 competition points are awarded for 1st place; 40 points are awarded for 2nd place etc. In the event of two competitors having an equal number of fish points, the competitor with the greater number of fish takes precedence; the other competitor receives 5 points less. In the event of any competitors tying with the same number of fish and fish points, the same number of competition points will be awarded to each competitor. The number of competition points awarded to the following competitor is suitably adjusted (for example, two competitor both having 5 fish and 40 fish points are both awarded 35 competition points, the next competitor will then receive 25 competition points). 2. Competitors who fish 6 or more competitions will have their lowest score deducted (This is to enable those anglers who may miss a trip for whatever reason to still have a chance of winning). Bookings 3. Bookings are accepted by the Large Boat Commodore on the condition that any competitor cancelling their booking within 14 days of the competition date shall be liable for the full cost of the booking and shall make such payment to the Large Boat Commodore within 14 days of the date of the competition. Alternatively, they may find someone to take their place* in which case no booking fee is repayable unless their replacement should also cancel, in which case they remain liable for full payment. No further booking will be accepted from any competitor while they owe money to the Club. *Whilst the Large Boat Commodore will endeavour to assist in finding a replacement, the responsibility to either find a replacement or pay the booking fee ultimately remains with the competitor. 4. Members failing to comply with these requirements may be liable to expulsion from the Club. 5. The Large Boat Commodore will post via the WhatsApp updates regarding the competition and confirming whether the competition is being held. Anyone not in the Group will be required to contact the Large Boat Commodore for an update. Entry Fees 6. The amount will be decided by the Large Boat Commodore to include a contingency contribution at the discretion of the Large Boat Commodore (all or part of which will be refundable at the end of the season). Payment may be required to be made in advance of the competition at the discretion of the Large Boat Commodore. Cheques must be made payable to: Lymington and District Sea Fishing Club. Bait 7. Competitors must make their own arrangements for bait. Fishing 8. Fishing will be with only 1 rod and up to 3 hooks at all times. Additional rods may be made up and have terminal tackle attached. Competitors must draw for their fishing position on the boat. Fishing Area 9. The fishing area is by agreement between the Large Boat Commodore and the charter skipper. Fish caught outside Club waters are not eligible for club records, trophies, prizes etc.; however, fish caught by Angling Trust members may be eligible for Angling Trust awards. Starting and Finishing Times 10. Starting and finishing times will be confirmed by the Large Boat Commodore, depending on the venue.
