5th Club Shore Competition. Report sent in by Roland Blomfield.
On Saturday evening 20th April the club held its 5th Club Shore competition at Calshot. The weather for the evening was cold with a bitter north-westerly wind. 7 club members signed on and 6 weighed in fish consisting of dogfish , and pouting. On these competitions undersize fish count for points which was a bull huss. All fish are weighed, measured and quickly returned to the sea. The number of fish caught was 22 for a total weight of 20 lbs 6 1/4 oz. Best round fish of the evening was a dogfish of 1 lb 10 1/4 oz caught by Malcolm Stote.
Results:
1st Shane Samber 6 fish 5 lb 10.2 oz and 55 points, 2nd Malcolm Stote 6 fish 5 lb 9 1/4 oz and 60 points,
3rd Bruce Samber 5 fish 5 lb 1 3/4 oz and 45 points, 4th Stephen Brown 2 fish 2 lb 6 oz and 40 points,
5th Steve Monckton 1 fish 1 lb 8 oz and 35 points, 6th Mrs Summer Monckton 2 fish 1 lb 3 1/8 oz and 40 points,
and finely Roland Blomfield 1 fish undersize and 15 points.

On Saturday evening 23rd March the club held its 4th Club Shore competition. The weather was very cold with a north westerly wind blowing. 12 club members signed on and 11 weighed in 24 fish for a total weight of 20 lbs 11-1/4oz. These consisted of dogfish, whiting, conger eel, and undulate ray. On these competitions under size fish count for points which consisted of whiting, pouting, conger eel, and small eyed ray. All fish are measured, weighed and returned to the sea as quickly as possible.
Best fish of the night was a round fish an undulate ray of 8 lb 6 oz caught by Steve Cox.

3rd Andy Hopkins 2 fish 1lb 15-1/8oz and65 points, 4th Paul Watson 2 fish 1lb 12oz and 60 points,
5th Roland Blomfield 5 fish 1lb 0.4oz and 55 points, 6th Steve Monckton 2 fish 0lb 14-1/4oz and40 points,
7th Shane Samber 2 fish 0lb 11.4oz and 35 points, 8th Stephen Brown 2 fish 0lb 8.2oz and 20 points,
9th Summer Monckton (Lady) 1 fish 0lb 6-3/8oz and 20 points, 10th Pete Tomkins 1 fish 0lb 6.3oz and 50 points,
11th Bruce Samber 1 fish 0lb 3.9oz and 40 points, 12th John Tharme 1 fish under size for 15 points.
