5th Shallow Boat Competition.
On Sunday 14th April the club held its 5th Shallow Boat competition for 2024 in which 14 club members signed on. The weather on the day started very well with a gentle breeze and a flat sea but by mid-day it became a moderate wind and was a little uncomfortable but it did remain dry. On these competitions the fish are measured, weighed, and returned to the sea. Only a few fish are kept and those are for the table. Fish caught consisted of black bream, dogfish, conger eel, pollack, wrasse, pouting, thornback ray, whiting, plaice and bull-huss.
Results.
1st Alan Mapes 90 points, 2nd Ady Hulme and Denis Mapes 75 points, 4th Paul Watson 60 points, 5th An Other 58 points,
6th Adrian Moody 57 points, 7th Brian Ansell55 points, 8th Derek Smith and Daniel White 50 points, 10th Paul Dibden 45 points,
11th Alan Martin and Barry Littlefair 40 points, 13th Chris Hardy 35 points, 14th Colin Wright 33 points.
4th Shallow Boat Competition.
On Sunday 3rd march the club held its 4th Shallow boat competition. This was the first competition to be held since October last year because th weather on weekends has been so bad that we have not been able to get out. The weather was just perfect dry, with very light winds and sunny. Amazing. 15 club members signed on and all 15 caught fish. On these competitions no fish are brought back. They are all measured on the boats, and returned straight to the sea and points awarded. Fish caught consisted of plaice, dogfish, conger eel, undulate rays, whiting, bass, black bream, and smooth-hound. All 15 members said how much they enjoyed the day.
