Boat Competition Results.

Large Boats.

22nd August 2010.

A perfect one-day weather window enabled 9 club members to enjoy a great day's fishing for their August large boat competition. A mixture of different marks ensured a variety of fish, including dogfish, black bream, pout, thornback ray, bull huss, mackerel, garfish, pollack, conger and tope. About a dozen tope were tagged and released as part of the UK Shark Tagging Programme.

1st Steve Batchelor 101 points, 2nd Jane Hopkins 78 points, 3rd Alec Harmer 72 points, 4th Andy Fielder 50 points, 5th Derek Smith 38 points.

25th July 2010.

Seven members fished the July comp[etition in almost perfect weather conditions, allowing several moves to be made during the day to ensure a good mix of fishing. The surprise of the day was some very early whiting; other species caught included bass, pout, bream, blonde ray, scad and pollack.

1st Steve Batchelor 95pts, 2nd Alec Harmer 86pts, 3rd Derek Smith 80pts, 4th Harry Gray 76pts, 5th Roy Davis 53pts.

13th June 2010.

The Large Boats fished their 1st competition of the season aboard Aet Savage's Private Venture at two marks along the Dorset coast. The day started with light winds steadily increasing to south westerly force 4. Seven club members and two guests all found fish which included bream, pout, dogfish, smoothhound, wrasse and poor cod.

1st Jane Hopkins 123 pts, 2nd Robin Lane 67 pts, 3rd Malcolm Gerrish 42pts, 4th Harry Gray 35 pts, 5th Andy Fielder 34 pts.

Small Boats.

1st August 2010.

1st R.Miness with 1 smoothhound, 1 smalleyed ray, 1 thornback ray, 3 dogfish and 2 bream for 24lbs 9ozs.

2nd P.Morgan with 1 smoothhound, 2 bream and 1 thornback ray for 14lbs 11ozs.

3rd P.Bowditch with 4 bream, 3 dogfish and 1 smalleyed ray for 15lbs 3ozs.

4th B.Dawkins with 5 scad, 5 bream and 1 smalleyed ray for 14lbs 6ozs.

5th B.Littlefair with 1 thornback ray, 2 dogfish and 1 smalleyed ray for 12lbs 9ozs.

6th R.Rickman with 5 bream, 1 scad and 1 smalleyed ray for 10lb 14ozs.

7th D.Smith with 1 scad, 5 bream and 1 smoothhound for 9lb 1oz.

8th S.Rickman with 2 dogfish and 5 bream for 8lb 13ozs.

9th F.Bigham with 2 bream, 2 dogfish and 1 scad for 5lb 11ozs.

10th S.Bigham 5 bream for 4lb 4ozs.

Heaviest fish and best specimen was a thornback ray of 9lb 6ozs =72% and caught by R.Miness.

These results were sent to me by R.Rickman. If they are wrong blame him.

25th July 2010.

All boats fished the shingle bank and fish caught included bass, bream, bull huss, dogfish, pout, smoothhounds, wrasse and thornback rays.

1st P.Morgan 31lbs 7ozs, 2nd R.Miness 18lbs 12ozs, 3rd P.Bowditch 16lbs 6ozs, 4th B.Dawkins 14lbs 14ozs, 5th R.Rickman 8lb 11ozs,

6th B.Littlefair 7lb 12ozs.

The heaviest fish was a thornback ray of 5lb 10ozs and caught by P.Morgan.

The best specimen was a wrasse of 2lb 8ozs and caught by B.Dawkins.

4th July 2010.

3 boats and 5 angler went out in rough conditions. \fish caught included bass, dogfish, bream and wrasse.

1st R.Miness 4 bream and 3 wrasse for 8lb 8ozs, 2nd R.Rickman 2 bream and 1 bass for 5lb 3ozs, 3rd S.Rickman 3 dogfish for 4lb 6ozs,

4th P.Morgan 1 wrasse and 1 bream for 2lb 2ozs.

Best specimen was a wrasse of 2lb 4ozs and caught by R.Miness. Heaviest fish was a bass of 3lb 3ozs and caught by R.Rickman.
