At the AGM, there was a proposal that the Club should review its present practive of awarding certificates instea of trophies. The matter was fully discussed and the following changes were agreed to come into effect immediately.
Adults - to qualify for fish of the month, entries must be a minimum of 50% of the Angling Trust specimen weight.
Juniors - no minimum percentage applies.
Engraved medals will replace the existing certificate for adult and juniors. A trophy will be put up for both adult and junior who win the most fish of the month awards during the year.
Progress on the portable building project.
Earlier in the year it was announced that the Club was going to apply for permission for a portable building to provide much needed extra storage facilities. I am pleased to say we were eventually given temporary planning permission for 5 years. A unit has now been purchased and recently the foundations were excavated and concreted, ready for the piers which will support the unit and raise it above possible flood level.
It is hoped to complete the necessary brickwork etc as soon as possible and we hope to have the unit in place early in the New Year. On behalf of our members and myself I would like to thank Derek Smith, Wally Ward and Bob Drodge for the time and hard work they have put into making this all happen.
Annual Dinner & Prize Presentation 4th February 2012 at Shorefield.
Just to remind you that the closing date for tickets is the 22nd January. Do come along and support this important event in the Club's calendar.
Club Emblem: Sponsor a letter and number.
The following 9 letters and numbers are still available: the letters I (3 available); N (2 available); U (1 available); the numbers 1,3 and 9. As soon as they are taken we can put up a certificate in the clubhouse listing the names of all the sponsors, together with the letters/numbers they have selected.
Now is your chance for a little bit of immortality; it would also make a unique late Christmas present! Please contact me on 01590 674045 if you are interested. Equiries will be dealt with on a first come first served basis.
Alec Harmer.
